Default Mem cards... - 10-10-2009, 08:36 AM

I'm impatiently waiting for my D300s to arrive (this monday ) while I'm waiting I'm looking at refreshing my memory cards. I currently have a D80 of all my mem cards my sandisk extreme is the best I have. With the 300 I'll be returning to CF cards.

What is a good brand, what specifically do I need to look for in a CF card in order to get the best use out of it and my camera?? I dont want to spend a chunk of change and get junky CF cards

Also what size would you recommend 4, 8 , 16??

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hey Rich.

I use RiData Lightning Seris 8GB 233X cards.
Read speed of 35MB/s

I have three or four of them. I get them at Fry's when they go on sale for about $25 a piece or less.

They have never failed me. They are fast, and I don't like using a much larger card, because I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket.

How's life after Intel treating you?
Are you working?

Since Black Friday is coming soon.....
I bagged from Ritz camera 3 4gig ExIII cards for ~$20 ea.
I think the size depends on how you shoot, lots very quickly or lots slowly. The slower you shoot the easier it is to change cards mid shoot. Multiple cards will not put your eggs in one basket if you keep the cards in different places or very secure in your stuff. I finally hit the wall for the very first time shooting a Sandisk ExII on large RAW.

Catmandu
I prefer Pachelbels lesser known work, Canon in L

Sandisk Extreme IV (Can always shoot slower) Can never shoot faster on a slow card. Also size depends on how often you want to change cards or how secure you need your images to be.
