Steve,
we may go to Fremont but meeting at 10am and we turn into pumpkins at 4pm.
So it would be a very short shoot for you. Are you interested in birds? I need to try Antioch/Pittsburg and sometime that lighthouse your way.

I never thought this would come out. F8 13 seconds 100 ISO ~50' plus, you can see lint on the string in the 100%.

So simple it's stupid, just like using a sling on a rifle.

It's actually a fallacy to call that a "tripod".
Monopod would be a tad more accurate as it doesn't stop the camera from swaying side to side, or even forward and back.
All it does is restrict motion in the vertical column.

I may have camera in hand tomorrow morning when I go to Dublin. The foster kitty goes in for tooth extraction(s) and hopefully comes back too.
If your monitor issues are not corrected this would be a good time to do so. I may go to a house in Ptown to do something also.

Thanks, Kevin. Tomorrow doesn't work for me - I have Dr. apts. I did find 2 calibration programs on my Mac, so I'm going to play with them and see if it helps.

I need to still go to your area. How's Friday Morning?
I was out at the reserve, just driving around and there isn't much action going on. We need more of the bird population to show up.

I won't know until after 5:30pm Wednesday every day till I get a job.
Sunday at 1 I might go to St. Marys college and watch them kick some butt in Lacrosse, I seem to have missed Rugby. I hope it is free, I know it is close :-)

Sorry Steve. My wife just told that she is going to take a half day off tomorrow instead of Friday. Apparently it's supposed to be a nice day.
No offence bit I'd rather spend my time with her than you.

Well boys and girls, we don't have a software section so I'm gonna post this here seeing as it's more of a rant anyway.

I turned on my PC yesterday, and it told me that it was at risk, and my virus software (Panda Anti-Virus) was not working correctly.
It also told me I had to reboot in order to correct it.
I figured it was bogus.
Then I started getting all these pop-ups from Panda AV.
Opening it fully, I found that it was NOT working.

Basically, they wanted more money.

So I deleted my Panda AV and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials.
It works well as I have been running it on my laptop. And, it's FREE!

Microsoft actually got one right!

You just need to have a verified copy of Windows running on your PC.
Two thumbs up for Microsoft (never thought I would be able to say THAT!).

Edit: I did the install of MSE about an hour ago and am doing a full scan. Apparently I have a LOT of files in my computer.
It has scanned aver 200,000 files so far. And it's not even close to being done.

Two hours and over one million files later, it's still scanning.

You need to delete or move some of that.
The fox will get into the hen house and kill off most of your chickens. I'm assuming there are quite a few image files there.

Nope. Those are all program files.
The virus scanner hasn't even gotten to my "D" drive yet.
That's where all my images are.
Well, there and backed up on two seperate external drives too.

When I left the house to go pick up my daughter from school it was still going. Over 2 mil now.

Lowell, what time were you thinking and where did you want to go shooting? I read on another forum that the black necked stilts are doing their courtship thing now, but I'm not sure where the best place to go would be. I could try calling the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center again.

The reason Macs don't get viruses, is they are not a big enough player in the market.

See, if one of those dweebs that likes ruining peoples lives and computers wants to really wreak havoc, they are going to do it on a grandiose scale.
Seeing as PC's are something like 95% of the market share, they go for that.

If and when Mac gets bigger (which would take a serious price restructuring) then they would get viruses too.

So it's not that Macs are immune, it's just that the user base is too small for any one of the people who write those viruses, to care about.

They have gotten viruses they just haven't affected enough machines or businesses to get any credit. As Alan said

Actually Alan I think it's more like 92% of the market. They do make anti-virus software for the mac.
