Default How to best make a web site... - 07-14-2009, 07:30 PM

My goal for this year is to get my stuff on-line.

Since I'm a photographer and not a website maker, I need advice and suggestions. I want to do my alternative process, not so much the digital stuff.

So...give me your HO please.

"HO"? Honest Opinion?

I went the route of a custom site. I learned HTML/CSS and a bit of PHP and MySQL. If you don't have the patience or time to learn, maybe Smugmug may be a good alternative.

Smugmug has a great section for customizers if you choose that route. Since I have basically no life, you can always PM me and I may be of some help....

While I have not done anything in the way of customization, mine is another vote for Smugmug.

You'd think with all the time off I have, I'd have done it by now.

Some people hunt with a gun. I use a Canon.

what I want to showcase is my hand printed work, so I wouldn't be printing thru a vendor like Smugmug. Does that make a difference?

You don't have to print anything. If you want to just use your Smugmug site to showcase your work and not print anything, that's fine.
