Default Banner - 12-29-2007, 06:47 AM

I'm now just getting started to building my web site, so I am looking for idea's for my banner. This is the first thing that popped up in my mind, I wanted something that shows some of my images that I have done.

But now that I look at it, it seems to be too busy, what do you all think?.

EDIT*** I added a few more versions ***

it is busy, But what about this suggestion...take the film strip holes off and replace with just a black border. in stead of darkening the photos...make them lighter and more transparent.

Are you also going to do a business card too? If you are, think about the "big picture".

I am actually going to have CD based business cards with a mini web site on them. I wanted to have the ability for people to browse some sample images at their leisure without needing an internet connection. I will also have the web site on my thumb drive so I can just copy it over to what ever computer. I will also have two different traditional style business cards, but I am looking for a company that can make them in semi-transparent plastic instead of paper.

I've actually printed on ink jet transparency and then had them laminated. Makes a nice "clear" business card. But dont forget....if its transparent, You can't use the back side for more information.

when making a website i usually layout the over all design and select a color scheme... then once i have that then i'll build a header image to fit that style.

youre just doing it opposite from how i typically go about it... its tough to come up with a header image (for me) without having a site design started because it then makes its tough to see if the header image will actually work out or not.

Im not one for placing a bunch of photos in the header image. i like it clean and simple. same goes for business cards etc, i like one large image taking up the whole side rather than 6 small thumbnail images etc.

just some other info to think about...

keep us informed on your progress.

That's a great idea. Are you using a template?

Yeah normally, I just design the layout, but this is the first time is which I am NOT building the site from the ground up. I went with SMUG MUG and it appears that I can only change the header and the footer with my own banner, everything seems to be their templates. I decided to stick with black, and for the individual galleries I will make a custom banner for those.
