CaliforniaPhotoForum.com (http://www.californiaphotoforum.com/) is now live!!!

Why create www.CaliforniaPhotoForum.com (http://www.CaliforniaPhotoForum.com)?

Well, I have received many emails from California based photographers on www.TexasPhotoForum.com (http://www.TexasPhotoForum.com) (which is another site I administer) asking if I had ever considered creating one for California because they really like the setup we had and the feel of the community we had worked so hard to establish.

Until now, I have never even entertained the idea of creating another forum because I knew how much work is involved in just running the Texas site and I couldn't imagine doing two. I had always thought if I couldn't give 100% to something then I would simply not do it. I don't feel that cutting corners is an option.

So here we are today... I feel very confident that we can make this community just as good as the Texas based forum which is currently just shy of 9,000 members. I am looking forward to the challenge of making this site the best that it can be and I'm sure with your help it can be just that!

The current status of the Texas forum was a long evolving process that took almost 2 years to acheive. The two year learning curve that we went through on the Texas site is really be taken advatage of here on www.CaliforniaPhotoForum.com (http://www.californiaphotoforum.com/). What does that mean? That means that you guys will have a great jump start on things no doubt.

So lemme welcome you to the new forum and I can assure you in due time you will find it to be one of the best communtied online!

Thanks for signing up Neal...

There's still a few bugs I'm working out but hopefully everything will be 100%!

I, for one, am thrilled that you've started up CPF, Abel--thanks mucho! It was just recently, about a month ago, that I discovered the Texas Photo Forum and fell in love the great sense of community on that site. I'm hopeful that CPF will follow along the same route

Now...if we could just find a tiger preserve here like the one y'all do your Tiger Shoots at, that would just really rock my world!

Thanks guys...

I am sure with your guys' help in generating content and such that ths can be a very productive forum!

It will remain slow for a shot while but trust me... in time it will build up...

and im sorry.. i cant provide the big cat preserve like we have here in Texas... I've been twice already and would be there more often if it were not for the 4-5 hour drive to get there.. :(

We do have a cat preserve (http://www.cathaven.com/)within about an hour's drive from us here in Fresno. The one time I was there (it's been several years back) it wasn't what I would call "photographer friendly". Perhaps I need to take another trip up there for another look-around and to have a little talk with the owner. The deal the Texas group has set up is a pretty sweet deal.

Hmmm...something for me to chew on a bit.

Janeen, the one we have here in texas is family operated... and a couple of local photographers befriended them and got them to open up the preserve to photographers on a weekend only basis.

100% of the funds raised through the shoots are given to the owners to help feed and offer healthcare to those amazing animals.

you never know, the preserve near you may be open to some type of arragement like that as well.. it does cost a small fortune to feed those guys!

I have a couple things to say:

1. Looks like I might need to plan a summer trip to Kings Canyon, and make a little stop along the way!

2. Their website is horrendous. *scratches out eyeballs*

Cool! If you ever get a wild hair and want to just do a day trip up there and back drop me a line. Maybe we can do a little field trip!
